About the Church

Vision: Listening to the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 19-20) of our Lord Jesus Christ among the South Asian and Indian communities from around the world living in the Greater Atlanta area.

Mission: To reach out with the message & love of Jesus Christ and the gift of salvation to the unreached peoples South Asian communities of Indian origin from around the world in the North Atlanta area.

Statement of Faith: FTC Atlanta believes in the tenants outlined by the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization in the Lausanne Covenant. Visit http://www.lausanne.org/covenant to view the covenant.

The Church: The First Tamil Church of Atlanta or FTC Atlanta is a Christian ministry originally founded as Atlanta’s Tamil Church in 1994. It was the first Tamil church ministry founded in cooperation with the Georgia Baptist mission. In 2009 the ministry was re-established and founded as The First Tamil Church of Atlanta or FTC Atlanta. The Church reaches out to the spiritual needs of the South Asian communities from around the world living in the North Atlanta area. Apart from our weekly worship service we also have regular house visits, neighborhood prayer meetings and parties. We involve in simple and unique ways to reach out to this group in partnership and support with the local Christ centered Churches in the area.

The Work: “The harvest is bountiful but the workers are few.” True, there are so many who have not made a commitment to Jesus Christ. And there are very few workers that work to get the message of God’s love to these peoples. We pray that the Gospel will reach into the un-reachable places within this community and there will be a great reaping season for the Lord.

The People: We are a diverse group of people from different backgrounds. FTC Atlanta is made up of Christ-followers and not just Tamil speakers. Here the mature Christian believers lead and support the new and young believers to walk in faith. New Christians and non-Christians are helped with understanding the Christian faith through simple friendship programs (visit the Christian Life section for more information). Our community is strengthened by the love of Jesus Christ that unites us all.

Strengthen (not segregate): America is diverse, and today there are many ethnic ministries here in America. We believe ethnic churches are necessary to strengthen the Christ centered community among the different communities. Our aim is to strengthen the community of love – the community of Christian believers; and not to segregate on the basis of ethnicity. Here at FTC Atlanta we celebrate and nurture and celebrate our cultural identity through Jesus Christ and provide a warm and friendly environment to the peoples of South Asian and Indian communities from around the world living in the Greater Atlanta region. We also encourage our members to be a part of the local nearby Christ centered Church and not stay segregated.
